Tchaikovsky's Birthday!

Today marks one of my very favorite composers birthday!
Tchaikovsky would have turned 175 years... He composed some of the most beautiful ballets, but he lived a tormented life.
He was sent to boarding school at a young age, and he missed his mother so dearly, and her untimely death affected him through the rest of his life!
He had to hide a secret all his life, he got married to please his family, and to please his society but he could not live in that lie, and separated from his wife after 6 weeks (yes weeks!) but never got a real divorce!
He had a patron that he confined in and sent letters to regularly, but he never met her as that was her wish!
He lived in that conflict all his life.. yet left us with the most beautiful pieces ever composed!

The very first duet I learned to play on the piano accompanying my sister was Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty Ballet! ( I still remember all the notes and sing the in my head whenever I hear it!)

Making May Musical!

May have started off really well this year... and now with the help of TPT all of us teachers are getting the appreciation we deserve! They have announced this huge sale on May 5-6 ....

So what better time than this to take part in this virtual :) party with you guys!

I just finished uploading the HUGEST document on TPT!

I couldn't have done it without the help of a 9 year old and a 13 year old ;)

Basically it is not a new idea... It is an End of Year Award Certificate..
Last time instead of award certificates, I gave out medals from (You're Welcome Crown Awards... now all of my 4 followers will read about your website) but that was in Dubai... where 11 year olds get invited to birthday parties in Atlantis the Palm and receive iPads as party favors...

I tried to make the document as user friendly as possible, all you need to do is:

1- click on the category you want
2- choose the clipart that resembles your student the most.
3- you find yourself in the award page..

Now you can follow the instructions in this video I made with the help of my 9 year old :)

Each certificate has a unique poem written by my (oh so cool) 13 year old daughter.. (and double checked by me
no need to worry ;))She talks to me in poems... I took away their electronics the other day and she stood there and complained by writing this (in almost 20 seconds)

You're beautiful.. You're pretty..
You're funny... You're witty
Your eyebrows are on fleek
you do them every week

you're amazing when you want to
and you do what you want to do
you're only a bore when you raise your tone,
so, is that good enough to get back our iPad and phone?!

well don't worry I didn't fall for the poem, and they didn't get their electronics back at least for that day.. (besides the only good thing about me is my eyebrows! )

I have been thinking lately of the multi national students I've had through the years.. students from: South Africa, Turkey, India, US, UK, Australia, France, Italy, Japan, Singapore, China, Canada, Jordan, Lebanon, Russia...and even a country I heared of for the very first time when my student said she is from Moldova (I thought she is from the Maldives hehe)

All those countries and I never had a great idea like Cori Bloom did...

I was browsing through her store and found this amazing product

A world of music and starter kit..

Private piano teachers can choose a day to celebrate as international day... Each student can choose a piece from their country to perform for the rest of the group... and you can further listen to music from around the world and fill the passports while doing so...
Such a terrific idea for getting students to learn how music is truly a language that connects everyone around the world!

Now while browsing the TPT store something else has caught my eye...

I am a big fan of educlips, Her clip art is overloaded with cuteness... and I love fun fairs and cotton candy ... everything in this set makes me want to go try every ride and eat every snack till I am so sick and I have to go home and eat pickles...
Oh how I miss the olden days ;)

I hope you can see the rest of the posts in this linky party...  I haven't partied for a long time I had so much fun today! teehee

Currently May 2015

I have been looking forward to doing this currently again! I celebrate my month of blogging, and currently is the only post i got comments on :)

so here it goes....

so it was my daughter's birthday yesterday 1st of May.. and she turned one.. I wanted to make her a (you are my sunshine birthday) that's why I listened to this song so much!

Did you guys know how hard it is to find a good cheap yellow dress?! so I ended up making her this birthday instead :)

I got this idea from pinterest, and taking pictures is not as easy as it looks! She was moving around so excited swimming among those balloons, pulling that flower off her head.. but I managed to take this one

Last month I wanted to get those wall decals (golden polka dot ones) I ended up cutting circles our of wrapping paper and sticking them on the wall with double sided tape..

My three year old daughter was happy to assist opening the gifts ;)

the year passed by too quickly... kids get cuter... mothers get older.. I need to freeze time somehow! any tips? DIYs? other than becoming a vampire?!

so this summer is my brother's wedding... and as someone born and raised in the middle east, castles are a big deal to me! sure we have ruins of Old Roman Empires but this is different a castle of a king or queen ,,, Yay!
